Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA) is a widely used microbiological culture medium for the cultivation of fungi and yeasts, especially in food, dairy, and environmental laboratories. Manufactured by HiMedia Laboratories, India, this 500g pack ensures consistent quality and reliable results for microbial analysis and research applications.
The medium contains potato infusion and dextrose, providing rich nutrients that promote the luxuriant growth of molds and yeasts. Its solid agar base supports easy colony isolation and identification, making it ideal for routine laboratory use and fungal contamination testing.
Dissolve 39g of PDA powder in 1 liter of distilled water, heat to boiling to dissolve completely, and sterilize by autoclaving at 121°C for 15 minutes. Pour into sterile Petri dishes and allow to solidify before inoculation.
